Reading never needs an account.

Only the text you select or type is sent — never a whole book.

We never sell personal data.

Reading never needs an account.

Your library, reading progress, bookmarks, favorites and settings are stored on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes them. They are excluded from Android cloud backup.

Book catalogs.

When you search or browse, the app contacts public catalogs (Open Library / Internet Archive, Project Gutenberg, Standard Ebooks) and loads covers. These services receive your search words and IP address, as with any website, under their own policies.

Optional account (Google Firebase).

If you create an account (with e-mail and password, or with “Continue with Google”, which shares only your Google account id and e-mail address), we store your e-mail address, a password hash when you use a password (managed by Firebase Authentication) and a copy of your library list (titles, catalog ids, reading positions, favorites, bookmarks, highlights) so you can restore it on another phone. Book files, AI keys and AI conversations are never uploaded. Data is encrypted in transit and stored by Google Cloud. You can delete the account and all its data at any time in the app (Settings → Account & sync → Delete account) or at delete-account.html; deletion is immediate and nothing is kept.

AI features are optional.

Only the text you select or type, or the single page/image you choose, is sent — never a whole book.
  • Your own key: requests go directly from your phone to the provider you chose (e.g. Google Gemini). The key is encrypted with the Android Keystore.
  • Free shared AI (only after you agree): requests go through the LIBRΛ server on Cloudflare to Google Gemini's free tier. The server does not store your text or the answers. It keeps a random device id (not linked to you or your advertising id) and a salted, daily-changing hash of your IP address only to count the daily allowance; these counters are deleted after 3 days. On the free tier Google may use requests to improve its services and human reviewers may read them, so do not send personal information. In the EU/EEA, Switzerland and the UK the shared AI is answered instead by Cloudflare Workers AI (an open model run by Cloudflare), which processes the request only to produce the answer and does not use it for training.
Answers saved on your phone (translations, explanations) stay available offline.

Author and book information.

Author pages and book details look up public encyclopedias and catalogs: Wikipedia, Wikidata and Open Library (and, for manga covers, the public Jikan / MyAnimeList database). These services receive the name or title being looked up and your IP address, as with any website, under their own policies. No account, device id or reading history is sent.

Offline translation on the phone (Google ML Kit).

Fast translation runs on your phone with Google ML Kit: the book text is translated on the device and is not sent anywhere. The first time a language is needed, its translation model (about 30 MB) is downloaded from Google's servers. ML Kit may send Google anonymous usage and diagnostic data (for example the ML Kit version, device model and whether a translation succeeded and how long it took) to keep the feature working and improve it; it contains no book text and no personal data. See ML Kit terms.

Voice conversation and live call (optional, microphone).

The microphone is used only while you hold a voice conversation or a live call, after Android asks your permission.
  • Voice conversation: your speech is turned into text by your phone's speech-recognition service (the Android / Google speech service), which may process the audio on the device or on its own servers under its own policy. LIBRΛ never receives or stores the audio. Only the recognized text of each turn is sent to the AI server (your own provider, or the LIBRΛ shared AI described above), and the answer is read aloud on your phone.
  • Live call: your voice is streamed through the LIBRΛ server on Cloudflare to Google Gemini Live and the spoken answer streams back. The server does not record or store the audio or the conversation; it only counts the minutes used per random device id. The live call is not offered in the EU/EEA, Switzerland or the UK.

Remote settings.

The app downloads public settings from the LIBRΛ server (for example whether ads or the shared AI are on, or an announcement). This request includes the random device id and the app version so the owner can see how many phones use each version; your IP address is not stored. If something fails, the app may send a short anonymous error note (no book text, no personal data).

Advertising (Google AdMob).

When ads are enabled, the free version shows a banner on browse screens, an occasional full-screen ad when a book page opens, and — only if you choose it — a rewarded video for extra free AI questions. Never while reading. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect the advertising ID, approximate location from IP, and device and app-interaction data for ads, measurement and fraud prevention. Where required (EEA, UK, Switzerland, some US states) a Google consent form asks for your choice first; you can change it in Settings → Ads → Ad privacy choices. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Files you import.

stay in the app's private storage and are never uploaded.

Links.

The Instagram link in Settings opens Instagram, which has its own privacy policy.

Children.

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
